"They're sad, if I'm being honest," Taylor Swift told the New Yorker a few months ago, referring to the songs she has written for her upcoming album. And that may not be solely inspired by the 22-year-old singer-songwriter's love life.
According to Star magazine (via RadarOnline.com), Taylor's parents have called it quits on their marriage.
Taylor's mom, Andrea, and dad, Scott, were married for 25 years before the alleged separation. "[Taylor's] been going through a lot," a so-called "family friend" told the magazine. "The new album will showcase the pain of her parents' separation."
The split reportedly happened some time within the last two years, but Mr. and Mrs. Swift have been keeping the matter private in a bid to not negatively affect their daughter's career.
"The Swifts stopped wearing their wedding rings. They haven't filed for divorce because they don't want it to damage Taylor's career," the alleged insider reported.
While the Swifts may have kept their marital issues out of the public eye for Taylor's sake, the source claims their superstar daughter's busy schedule may have been a contributing factor in the demise of the marriage. "Andrea being on tour with Taylor full-time has really been hard on her relationship with Scott," the source said.
